Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the AWI Florida Chapter website. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

EFFECTIVE: JUNE 2, 2026 · VERSION 2.0 — CHAPTER

1. About this site

This website is operated by the AWI Florida Chapter (the “Chapter”), the Florida regional chapter of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (“AWI”). The site provides information about the Chapter, its board, its events, its education programs, and a member directory and forum for Chapter members and invited guests.

The Chapter is a regional volunteer organization. AWI national is a separate organization. References to AWI standards (AWS, QCP, etc.) on this site link out to AWI national resources at awinet.org. The Chapter does not control and is not responsible for content on AWI national or any other third-party site.

2. Who can use the site

The site is intended for adults (18 or older) working in or interested in architectural woodwork and related trades. By creating an account, you confirm you are at least 18 and that the information you provide is accurate and kept current.

Some pages are public. Member-only content (the chapter directory, members-only event pricing, member forums) requires a free account or an active Chapter membership tier as described on the Membership page.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the activity on your account, including keeping your password secret. Notify the Chapter promptly if you suspect unauthorized use. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account, and you may not create an account using another person’s identity or a false identity. The Chapter may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms or that appear inactive or abandoned.

4. Acceptable use

When using the site, you agree not to:

Post content that is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or discriminatory. Spam other members, scrape the directory, harvest member data, or send unsolicited commercial messages. Post other people’s confidential or copyrighted material without permission. Misrepresent your identity, employer, or membership status. Use the site to violate antitrust or competition laws, including coordinating prices, bids, or markets with competitors. Upload viruses, malware, or any code intended to disrupt or damage the site. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site, other accounts, or connected systems. Attempt to break the site, abuse rate limits, use bots or automated tools without permission, or interfere with how it runs.

Forum and posting conduct is also governed by the Forum & Community Rules.

5. Antitrust and competition

The Chapter is an association of businesses that may compete with one another. The Chapter and its members are committed to full compliance with all antitrust and competition laws. You may not use the site, the forums, or any Chapter communication channel to discuss or coordinate prices, profit margins, bids, terms of sale, allocation of customers or markets, or any other matter that could restrain trade. Any content of this nature may be removed and may result in account suspension.

6. Content you post

You keep ownership of anything you write or post. By posting, you grant the Chapter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, reproduce, and share that content within the Chapter site and in Chapter communications. This license continues for content you have posted even if you later close your account, to the extent needed for archival, backup, and recordkeeping purposes.

You represent that you have the right to post anything you submit and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights. The Chapter may remove or edit posted content at its discretion (for example, to enforce these Terms or the Forum Rules) and is not obligated to monitor or store any content.

7. Intellectual property and trademarks

The AWI Florida Chapter name, the site’s design, text, graphics, and logos (other than content you post and other than AWI national marks) are owned by or licensed to the Chapter and are protected by intellectual property laws. “Architectural Woodwork Institute,” “AWI,” and related marks and standards belong to AWI national and are used under the Chapter’s affiliation with AWI national; nothing on this site grants you any right to use those marks. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse Chapter or AWI materials without prior written permission, except for normal personal and member use of the site.

8. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the site infringes your copyright, send the Chapter a written notice through the contact path in Section 18 that identifies the work, the infringing material and its location on the site, your contact information, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. The Chapter will review and may remove the material. The Chapter may also remove content and terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.

9. Membership and dues

Chapter membership tiers, annual dues, and member benefits are published on the Membership page. Dues are paid directly to the Chapter and are non-refundable except where required by law or at the board’s sole discretion. The Chapter may adjust dues, perks, and tier names from time to time; changes apply to subsequent renewal terms.

10. Events and sponsorships

Event registrations and sponsorship purchases are governed by the published terms of each event or sponsorship package at the time of purchase. Refund, cancellation, and transfer policies vary by event and are noted on each event page. Sponsorship slot availability is on a first-paid basis.

You attend Chapter events at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Chapter, its board members, and its volunteers are not responsible for injury, loss, or damage arising from attendance at or participation in any event, including events hosted at member or third-party facilities.

11. Third-party links and services

The site may link to or rely on third-party websites, plugins, and services (for example, AWI national resources, payment processors, and content feeds). The Chapter does not control these and is not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or practices. Your use of any third-party service is governed by that party’s own terms and policies.

12. Availability and changes

The Chapter makes a reasonable effort to keep the site available but does not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Chapter may add, remove, or change features at any time. The Chapter may post a notice on this page when these Terms change in a way that materially affects member rights. Your continued use of the site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

13. Electronic communications

By creating an account or registering for events, you consent to receive communications from the Chapter electronically, including by email and through notices posted on the site. You agree that electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that a communication be in writing. You can manage email preferences as described on the site, though some communications (such as account, dues, or event notices) are necessary and may not be optional.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Chapter disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Chapter does not warrant that information on the site is complete, current, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose, or that the site will be secure or error-free. Technical references (for example, AWS quotes and AWI program descriptions) are provided as a convenience and may be superseded by AWI national publications.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Chapter, its board members, and its volunteers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the site or from any content posted by others. The Chapter’s total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the amount of dues you paid to the Chapter in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred dollars if you paid no dues.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Chapter, its board members, and its volunteers from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the site, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.

17. Florida governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the site will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

18. Privacy

Use of the site is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which describes what information the Chapter collects and how it is used.

19. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. The Chapter’s failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms; the Chapter may assign these Terms in connection with a reorganization or transfer of operations. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Forum & Community Rules, are the entire agreement between you and the Chapter regarding the site.

20. Contact

Questions about these Terms, membership, dues, or any other matter can be directed to the Chapter board. The full chapter board roster and current contact details are available at here.
